The CAIRP Chair’s Report will be presented, which will provide an overview of achievements in 2010 and priorities for 2011. The OSB will give a short presentation on Debtor Compliance.
Midmarket Commercial Technical Update
Experts from the local legal community will share recent developments and case law related to midmarket commercial issues and the impact on practice.
Insurance Challenges
A panel comprised of an insurance broker, lawyer and CIRP will explore the challenges faced by CIRPs with respect to business and asset insurance. The exchange will encompass whether or not to maintain an existing policy, insure for replacement or market value, and obtain liability coverage. The panel will also look at the potential implications for CIRPs if a client chooses not to fund insurance costs.
Asset Realization
A panel discussion regarding insight on the new standards (10-1 and 10-2) involving Liquidators and Appraisers including the issues that members should take in to consideration when engaging such parties.
Seven Elements of Principled Negotiation
Representatives from the Stitt Feld Handy Group will present the Seven Elements of Principled Negotiation and discuss how insolvency practitioners can effectively apply these fundamentals in practical situations.
Six Degrees of Surplus Income
This discussion will focus on the problems and practical considerations (including resolutions) encountered by CIRPs since the introduction of Directive 11R2.
Dealing with Challenging Consumer Insolvencies
Local CIRPs will discuss the practical implications of engaging with consumer debtors that suffer from gambling, addictions, mental health issues, and other compromising addictions that impede their financial health. In addition, the CIRPs will discuss the practical requirements and seniors, disabled individuals and other less fortunate and vulnerable consumer debtors.
Personal Technical Update
Professionals from the local legal community will present recent developments and case law related to personal insolvency issues and the impact on practice.
